Evidently we have Obama to thank for the Georgia cease fire

Well, it isn't much of a cease fire when the armies keep fighting. The humorous thing is that Tim Kaine, who is rumored to be on the Obama short list for his VP slot, made a statement that the Russian government agreed to the cease fire at Obama's request.




This is called hubris wrapped up in a cult of personality. I like to simplify it slightly and just call it stupidity.

Having learned a little of Vladimir Putin over the last few years, there are a few things that seem to be abundantly clear. The first is that he is a man bent on keeping power. Not elected power necessarily, but definitely complete power. He is ex-KGB who REALLY misses the glory days of the USSR. He is very cold and very intelligent. This calculated assault combined with his apparent absolute control over Pravda (the former USSR media outlet) should send chills up the backs of every one of the former Solviet satellite nations... which is most likely one of the goals of the attack in the first place.
