Well, I did not catch the speech last night as it was in action, but I caught the late version, or what I could of it. I finally dozed off about 11 and couldn’t take anymore. I have to say that I appreciate the fact that Obama beat Hillary in the primaries simply because she is a difficult speaker to listen to. She is loud and tends to get stuck in an obnoxious, almost shout that gets very old after a very short period of time. In any case, the speeches from Michelle Obama and from Hillary could not have been more different. Michelle was poised and her speech flowed, it made sense, it was easy to listen to and it was even easy to read. Hillary’s was one tag line after another, some biting at Bush, others at McCain, but most of them patting herself on the back.
The stated purpose of the speech, from several Dem strategists was for Hillary to help unify the party and repair the rift that was created through a long and bitter primary. I think she could have done that, or at least made a lot of progress in that direction, but I don’t think she wanted to, and I don’t think the Obama’s really thought she would.
To me the story of the night, as I watched Hillary speak, was the look on Michelle Obama’s face. It was a mixture of angst, fear, bitterness, and if looks could kill, then at some point during the speech last night I think Hillary would have been burned by the fire coming out of her eyes.
Wow. It was not pretty.
I didn’t get to hear what any of the pundits were saying about the speech, hopefully I will catch some of that today. I would have to say that my impression is that it was a failure. The whole thing sounded more like a rallying cry to Clinton and what she had done than a moving speech to try and restore the party. Of course, I really don’t know if Hillary could deliver that speech. I think Pres Clinton could, if he wanted to, but from all of the reports that have been coming out, I don’t think that’s the foremost thing on his mind.
It was a very interesting development for Obama to let the Clinton’s have two nights at the convention. I’m not sure what he was thinking here. He would have had a better chance at unity if he would have made Hillary is VP choice. Of course, then he would be watching his back and hesitantly sipping his coffee for the next four years, but he would have had a better shot at the election. Either that or he is thinking that his speech at Invesco Field is going to be SO moving and SO inspiring that the rest of the convention will be forgotten and everyone will look back on all of the other pathetic speeches and be glad that they have elected this eloquent speaker, their nominee for president.
For his sake I hope there aren’t any teleprompter issues. It could bring the whole thing down in flames. Hmmm… that could be very interesting. :)

It's time
There are several pieces out there right now talking about Hillary and what she is doing in the next couple of days. This talk revolves around a few key things. #1 the primaries end Tuesday night with Montana and South Dakota voting. #2 the big meeting over the weekend to discuss Florida and Michigan. #3 Hillary plans to spend Tuesday night in NYC. Kind of strange since she would normally be at celebration speeches in the states that she will win on Tuesday. #4 Bill mentioned that this might be the last day that he is involved in a campaign like this.
All of the indicators are leaning toward throwing in the towel, or rather conceding that she has exhausted all options. There was a little talk from the Clinton camp bashing Obama about not being able to win the Hispanic vote, but... that comes on a landslide victory for Clinton in... Puerto Rico... where they can't vote in the general election. It was interesting that she beat Obama 70/30.
Funny, before this whole thing, I thought for sure she would be the nominee. I have to admit I was a little frightened by Obama and his flaming liberal record combined with empty speeches and meaningless phrases. I think the alternative media has been doing a bang up job beating him up and I think it will continue.
Personally I am hoping that McCain plays nice and sweet until the debates and then unloads on him with both barrels. His economic policies are a joke. He is a MORON (not to sugar coat it) when it comes to foreign policy. And he has literally ZERO experience on anything of substance considering he has been campaigning for president his entire term as a Senator.
The bell is ringing... the big fight is on.

Is the race finished?
Well, contrary to what you might have heard last night, the race isn't over. But it may be getting REALLY close. The main reason was revealed in Hillary's speech last night, which she concluded by begging for people to go to her website and give money. Then there are rumors this morning that she has loaned MORE money to the campaign. In this race, you run out of money and you're done. Of course Hillary can give as much of her own money to the campaign as she wants, but how much is she really willing to part with.
Look for a couple of things to happen in the near future.
#! Howard Dean and the other leaders in the DNC are going to push and push HARD on the superdelegates to declare their allegiance. Possibly even calling a meeting of the undeclared supers. Once they get enough supers to hand it to Obama, it's done.
#2 Hillary may keep her campaign going, even by lending more money to it. Don't' worry about her though. Despite her stump speeches, she isn't hurting AND this can actually be used in her favor when it comes to a "buy out". Which means at some point she could go to Obama and the DNC and say, hey I'll drop out if you pay off my campaign debt. Of course that probably won't be the only thing that she negotiates for...
So why would Hillary even stay in this?
#1 Hoping for Obama to have a Spitzer moment or a lightning strike... you get the idea.
#2 It hurts Obama. That's right if she doesn't get the nod you are not going to see Hillary out there campaigning like a mad woman for Obama (unless of course she is the VP, but I think that is a LONG shot to say the least). Quite frankly, if she doesn't get the nod, then she'll want Obama to lose. That gives her a shot at 2012 and considering this has been her life long goal, she'll be hoping for McCain to eek out a win in November. That would give her a lot of ammo to be the nominee in 2012, which will be her last shot.

How stupid can Hillary be?
I know, a loaded question right?
A request for $2.3 BILLION dollars worth of earmarks? Are they handing out crack at her campaign headquarters?
This is either incredibly naive or a last ditch give away to some potential big campaign donors to keep her flat broke presidency bid alive.

A Disturbing Glimpse into Hillary's Pattern of Lies
Wow, I have to say that most of my bosses have like me.
I wouldn't imagine that ANY of them would refuse to write a recommendation for me.
But I KNOW that none of them would say anything like this.
Maybe she didn't learn her skills in deceit from her hubby. Maybe it was the opposite.

Hillary Clinton, evidently she did gain experience being first lady
She got to watch every day as a first rate liar performed his magic.
Evidently it rubbed off.
Surprisingly enough the media actually chronicled it. Oops.
Don't lie in the YOUTube generation, it WILL come back to haunt you. Usually in your own words.

When Susan Estrich gets nervous, it's a good thing
Well, not a good thing for Dems but a REAL goo thing for Reps.
It can go a couple of ways from this point. If things get more and more buddy/buddy on the Dem side, that would be bad, really bad. If they did have an Obama/Clinton ticket (I highly doubt it and if I was Obama I would REALLY be watching my back on that one) that would be disastrous. But, it's either going to go that way, or the Dem part will have somewhat of a meltdown. Obviously this is the preferred scenario.
Right now, this is bothering me. Not too much, yet. Mostly because neither Obama or Clinton has had to deal with debates and questions from people that actually disagree with their arguments and the premise behind those arguments. I think once we get to that point, they will lose ground quickly.
Hopefully :)

Should she stay or should she go now?
Well, there are people on either side here. Some saying Hillary should pull the plug and others pleading with her not to.
Of course Hillary has a different idea of what to do. Now if she thinks that he is going to take her up on it, she has got to be dreaming. Why on EARTH would Obama sign on as her VP? All it would do is make it impossible for him to run in 2012 and "taint" him by associating himself with the Clintons. Not that he doesn't have his own Chicago baggage that he is dragging along. It also ignores the fact that he is actually AHEAD in the delegate count. You have to admire the arrogance of the Clintons to even make the suggestion.
McCain needs to be pushing forward right now. Put his solutions out on the table every chance he gets. Grab the cameras and pull them over, then actually give them something of substance to report.
With all of this joint ticket talk from Hillary, I'm concerned that she's desperate. I'm concerned that her SS have gone out and haven't found enough dirt on Obama to make him look dirtier than her (granted, that would take quite a bit). I'm guessing that he is just going to laugh in her face, pull out his pocket watch and go back to hypnotising crowds while he steals their wallets. If he entertains the idea AT ALL it would mean that the SS dug up something REALLY big and REALLY stinky and it's got Obama's name all over it and they are using it as leverage to get him to take a back seat. But, I'm afraid that is probably not going to happen. For all intents and purposes, the Superdelegates are going to majoritively sign with Obama and Clinton will go back to being a Senator from NY.
If I was Howard "mean scream" Dean(head of the Dem Party), I would be pulling all of the Superdelegates together and tell them all that if they want to save the Dem party that they will all look at who won the most delegates and 'gently persuade' them all to vote unanimously behind that candidate. But then again, that would probably take Hillary to scratch together some humility and a smidgen of character to do what is best for her party... that won't happen.

Hillary, "Yes we will!" and my 200th post!
I knew it was coming. I busted up laughing when I heard it.
The whole "Yes we can!" is just too inviting for someone to be assertive and say "Yes we will!"
Well... Hillary did it last night. Kind of pathetic, but you had to know it was coming. It's at about 3:40 into the speech. Classic.

Also, thanks for reading.
This is my 200th post to this blog. :)

There is all kinds of good news coming in tonight
So far Hillary won Rhode Island and Ohio (by double digits) and we are looking at returns from Texas that look marginally in her favor. I'm down right giddy. I can't take the excitement.
Finally it looks like Obama is starting to get... can you believe it... actual question at a press conference!
Will the wonders never cease!
Even if Obama takes Texas (which looks doubtful), the fight goes on! This is really good news for McCain. The longer this fist fight goes, the better. I really want Hillary and her team of henchmen to have as much time as possible to probe EVERY aspect of this Rezko and Auchi story. I think there is a lot more dirty Chicago politics there to dig up.

Gloria Steinem... it couldn't get much lower than this
Wow, if you thought she was annoying before, she has reached new lows.
I'm not a big McCain fan, although I definitely will be voting for him. But of all the things to pick on him for, you CANNOT, SHOULD NOT even contemplate, picking on his military service. The man is untouchable in this arena. To even make suggestions about this should have you tortured for a day, like he was for years and years and years.
Atrocious. Read it here.
The funny thing is that she further belittles her own candidates by saying that Americans are only pulling for Obama because they care more about righting the wrongs of racism than they do of sexism.
What an idiot.
Please, keep talking, you are only helping us.

VDH makes some GREAT points
This is a great article that points out the utter hypocrisy being preached by Obama and Hillary both. Not to mention the liberal mantra of blame the government and big business.
Personal accountability in this country is a huge issue.

Ouch!
Ouch for Hillary on the election yesterday. Losing WI by 17%, that's gotta hurt. Obama is now 10-0. Hillary has to win something and soon. Ohio and Texas are the next heavy hitters where Clinton still holds a small lead in the polls... but will it last.
So... forget the gloves... here come the brass knuckles.
I love it when the democratic attack machine turns against itself!

Interesting stuff
Some really interesting stuff happened last night. It did not bode well for Hillary or Mitt (even though he got MY vote :)
An interesting thing on the exit poll demographics though, hispanics broke for Hillary and pretty much bailed her out in CA.
Very interesting.
Where did all those hispanic votes come from? Why didn't they break for Obama like other minorities?

Want a night out?
Need a babysitter?
Would you mind voting for me in the Iowa Caucus while you're out? Great!
Unbelievable.

Ouch!
I didn't get to watch it last night, but I have to say that I am REALLY enjoying the press today. Articles like this one are all over the web. I've been listening to some of the audio and my goodness people, if you want to hear how to dodge a question, just pull up ANY of Hillary's non-answers. Talk about a verbal contortionist. Ouch!
Obama is going to gain some serious ground if he keeps up this effort. Edwards and Chris Dodd jumped on the band wagon pretty good too.
Don't get me wrong, I CAN'T STAND any of these jokers. Unfortunately I can say the same for a lot of the Republican field. It's a rough election season this time around. It will get uglier at the end. Guaranteed if it ends up being Hillary vs Rudy you won't be able to let anyone under 17 listen to the election news. Both of their closets are filled with dirty, naked and raunchy skeletons and they are all going to get drug out and put on your TV.
